Old door closer: Open the door and scoot the little wiggly slider over and hope it stays open.

New door closer: Open the door and lightly press the button with your foot.

Old door closer: Open door wider and work the wiggly slider back to its original position.

New door closer: Open door wider and let it go.

Old door closer: Open door to come inside and race to keep it from smashing into you.

New door closer: Open door to come inside and the door closes slowly!

    What’s not to like.

This storm door closer works! For less than what I have seen at local Lowes and Home Depot, I can press a button on the arm, and the door will stay open wherever I want it to. Even better, after the last load of groceries, plants, or whatever, I can literally “bump” the door with my elbow or hip, and it closes. It is as quick, and it is quieter than the last two mounted on the door. They are also available in black and unpainted models thru various sites on the web.

I love this screen door holder. A breeze to install, a pleasure to use. I can sail through the door and make it stay open at the touch of a button. And then with a small push, it will release and close behind me. I’m in South Florida and so far it’s holding up to heat, humidity, and withering sunlight. I’m going to get another for the other door. Perfect!

I was trying to get the same results with a single closer on a wrought iron door as the dual closers on the Stanley full view glass storm doors. I found that the touch button works better than the ones that are included with the Stanley because the closer can hold open at any angle and not be limited to notches in the rod like the Stanley. Also, the hold open feature can be activated before the door is opened, thereby not having to hold the door then set the lock.

The only feature that I found lacking is the ability to set the closer speed separately from a latch speed. Also the door closes more than I prefer before the pneumatic action kicks in…likely to get you in the but after the door is released. Time will tell if the closer lasts like the Stanley.
